Taking No. 1 plant as an example of tertiary treatment plants, the total treatment capacity was 40,000 m 3 /d and 12.5% (5000 m 3 /d) of treated wastewater was reclaimed and recovered for water reuse purpose. The distance value of No. 1 plant equaled to 0, indicating the current best practice towards sustainability among plants with tertiary treatment process.
The integrated efficiency assessment considering multiple dimensions and statistical analysis on a large sample allowed us to reveal reasons for efficiency gaps. Statistic test results showed that plants scale, technology, and capacity of tertiary treatment were significant for explaining efficiency disparities.

Get Price1. Introduction. The aim of WasteWater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) is wastewater purification for water pollution control. Most WWTPs operating today have been designed and built without accounting for energy demand, since energy costs were not a major concern .WWTPs are energy-consuming, especially in terms of electric energy demand, that accounts for about 90% of their total energy consumption .
Get PriceDifferent sizes of municipalities affect the design of each wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and cause variations in the operation process. The presence of scale economies in this sector has a significant influence on the efficiency of the wastewater treatment process and has a direct impact on the operational costs.
Get PriceLife cycle assessment (LCA) and data envelopment analysis (DEA) have been combined in numerous occasions in order to identify the environmental efficiency of multiple units. In many cases, important differences in environmental performance have been identified among the units, referred to as decision-making units (DMUs). However, most studies have been limited to 1 year of assessment
